Dr. Leigh M. Johnson (Department of Philosophy and Religion, American University, Washington, D.C.) is a philosopher specializing in moral and social/political philosophy, the philosophy of emergent technologies, the history of Western philosophy, 19th-21st C. African, African-American, and European philosophy, feminist philosophy, and the philosophies of gender and sexuality. 

She earned her B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Memphis in 200, her M.A. in Philosophy from Villanova University in 2003, and her PhD. in Philosophy from The Pennsylvania State University in 2007.

She is the Executive Editor, Producer, and host of the limited-series podcast Black Mirror Reflections (22 episodes, 2020-2021), the co-director and producer of the short documentary film Working in Memphis (2013), the creator and curator of the art exhibit “American Values Project” (2011),  and the current Executive Producer, Editor, web content manager, and co-host (along with Dr. Bob Vallier and Dr. Jennifer Kling) of the weekly philosophy podcast Hotel Bar Sessions (2021-present), now in its 16th season. 

Dr. J has two cats, Champion (aka “Champ”) and Rascal T. Biscuit, Esq. (aka, “Brain Damage”) who she definitely loves more than you. She is a born and bred Memphian, a singer, guitar player, fan of reality-TV and true-crime media, socialist, technophile, and better-than-average cook who is allergic to meanness and conspiracy theories.
