Just a random”Philosophy pedagogy” insight today:
I’m teaching three sections of a course entitled “Contemporary Moral Problems” at Christian Brothers University this term, which is more or less CBU’s version of  “Intro to Ethics.”  As I’ve done in all of my past Ethics courses, I spend the second day of class leading students through a discussion of the in/famous thought-experiment known as the Trolley Problem. I do this quite early in the first week because it gives students a chance to acclimate themselves to a class in which they will have to talk out loud, but also because the Trolley Problem gives me a chance to broadly survey the landscape of their moral-reasoning tendencies and skills.
