For Episode 15, I am re-joined by Dr. Ammon Allred to talk about social media cesspools, climate change, the unwritten rules of hashtags, so-called “cancel culture,” the Capitol insurrection, and “Hated in the Nation” (Season 3, Episode 6 of Black Mirror), which originally premiered in 2016.
(Of course, we also talk about Derrida.)

Ammon Allred was the very first guest on the BLACK MIRROR REFLECTIONS podcast, and so I encourage everyone to go back and check out BMR Episode 1 (on “The National Anthem”), which was a fantastic conversation!
Dr. Ammon Allred is Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the Unieversity of Toledo, were he teaches and researches in the areas of Phenomenology, 19th and 20th C. European Philosophy, and Aesthetics. He is, in my view, one of the most brilliant living Derrideans and he tweets semi-regularly at @ideasmanphd.
As I mentioned in this episode, Ammon is trying out for the position of co-host on whatever podcast I do following BMR– that’s not totally true, because I’ve pretty much already decided that he will be my cohost!– so I/we would love to hear back from BMR listeners (either in the comment section below or on Facebook or Twitter) about your ideas/requests for our next podcast!
You can listen to our discussion of “Hated in the Nation” in its entirety here:
