I’ve received a fair amount of pushback (mostly on Facebook and Twitter, but also in the comments section here) regarding my post on Saturday critical of the Supreme Court’s Ogerbefell decision. I may have been a little quick on the draw with my criticism, which I posted only one day after SCOTUS’ decision and while the celebratory champagne corks were (still are) popping, but I stand by my decision to blow the sad trombone and my arguments for doing so.
Today, I’d like to offer some clarifications of and elaborations on my position in hopes of addressing various concerns that have been expressed about it, followed by a few remarks on what I think are some really troubling patterns of (mostly passive-aggressive) gendered tone-policing that I’ve experienced in the last couple of day,
